We decided on Madeira as a destination for my mates 30th birthday, booking ourselves a huge villa, but I was completely unaware how beautiful this island was! In fact, I didn’t realise a lot of things about Madeira, such as how close to Africa it was and how far it was from Portugal! Madeira should be on everyone’s bucket list, a dream location with various activities you wouldn’t expect from such a small area, from the hysterical toboggan run down the hill to the cable car back up. Just be prepared to hire a car as this really isn’t an area with great walking routes until you get away from the roads, they seriously lack pavements!
