There are so many things to do in Rabat, such as seeing the Hassan Tower, the Kasbah of the Udayas, Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the scenic gardens of Chellah. Considering the number of fortified buildings, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Rabat translates in Arabic to ‘fortified place’. While it may not appear top of everyone’s list of things to do before you die, Rabat actually came 2nd in the 2013 CNN countdown of the best places in the world to visit. The location reached the mainstream as Black Hawk Down was predominantly filmed in this location, however that didn’t do a huge amount for its image. If you’re looking to travel around Rabat, you will be happy to see the great tram system that has been built out. Another cool thing is how the colour of the taxi’s varies through Morocco, while they are blue in Rabat. Another great sight beyond the traditional ones is the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium, if you manage to arrive while something is being shown, whether that be a live concert or a football match. Unsurprisingly, this is a great location for bartering, so make sure to visit a market on your holiday in Rabat.
