Travel these days is all about the perfect picture. More so than ever before, exploring visually stunning destinations is a huge part of the perfect vacation. After all, if it isn’t on the ‘gram, did it even happen?
While the above is a little tongue-in-cheek, finding picture-perfect places to visit is a wonderful part of planning your next vacation. And when you are traveling the world solo, you have the time and flexibility to hit up the most amazing, exotic, and Instagrammable spots on the globe.
So whether you plan to board a Southampton all-inclusive cruise to the Mediterranean or backpack around Asia with your DSLR, here are some of the most gorgeous and photogenic places to visit.
Santorini, Greece
With its iconic white buildings and blue-domed churches perched on cliffs overlooking the Aegean Sea, Santorini offers picturesque landscapes, charming alleyways, and breathtaking sunsets. This little slice of Greek heaven is one of the most popular spots in the Mediterranean and with very good reason.
Bali, Indonesia
Known for its lush landscapes, vibrant culture, and stunning temples, Bali is a paradise for backpackers and solo travelers. It has an incredibly warm, welcoming atmosphere, and from picturesque rice terraces in Ubud to stunning beaches in Uluwatu, there are endless Instagram-worthy spots to explore.
Kyoto, Japan
This ancient city is a treasure trove of traditional Japanese culture and architecture and a wonderful alternative to the more futuristic landscapes of many of the more famous Japanese cities. From the iconic Fushimi Inari Shrine with its thousands of torii gates to serene bamboo groves and beautifully landscaped gardens, Kyoto is a photographer’s dream.

The Maldives
The crystal-clear turquoise waters, white sandy beaches, and overwater bungalows of the Maldives tend to attract honeymooners and couples, but there is plenty to delight a solo traveler seeking relaxation and natural beauty in this glorious tropical paradise. Machu Picchu, Peru
One of the most famous destinations in the world, Machu Picchu remains a remarkable place due to its remote location. Nestled high in the Andes Mountains, this awe-inspiring Incan citadel offers breath-taking views and incredible photo opportunities, as well as the life-changing experience that comes with hiking the Inca Trail.
